Botulinum medicine (abbreviated to BoTox) is rapidly becoming in vogue in Sydney society in fact it is becoming an important part of grooming for individuals in the Harbour City. But I never cease to be amazed by the stories surrounding the procedure. I have outlined below a few of the more popular stories frequently encountered at Star Cosmetic Medicine in Pyrmont, Sydney.
Delusion # 1: The muscles in my forehead could freeze!
There are 60 or so muscles under the skin of your face. Their continual use can result in fine lines or wrinkles. Too many doses of BoTox may result in the facial musculature appearing slightly less expressive. Most doctors would use relatively small dosages to result in you seeming less tired, however you will remain just as expressive.
So a carefully measured injection of BoTox in the proper site means an expressive face is maintained whilst the wrinkles are smoothed.
Delusion # 2: BoTox is a toxin!
This to a small extent is right. Botulinum Toxin Type A is the proper medical terminology. Too large a dose may loosen facial muscles that you do not want relaxed or may even cause illness.
Pharmacists have a well-known saying ‘everything is a poison - it all depends on the dose’. All drugs might make a person unwell in large quantities. If you drink too great a quantity of water it will kill you.
Delusion # 3: It will hurt!
Your hair is thicker than the hypodermic needles we use at Star Cosmetic Medicine. A lot of people say that the treatments are not as painful as bug bites. It for certain is not as painful as something like a blood profile.
Delusion # 4: BoTox will numb the feeling in my face!
This is completely wrong. BoTox affects the neuromuscular junction, and not on the nerves of sensation. Just the ability to relax your muscles is affected by BoTox injections.
Delusion # 5. Once you start BoTox you must keep getting it otherwise you might age faster than ever!
Once Again this is just false.
Botox is thought to last for in the region of three months. Any further treatments after the first one should last a little longer. Eventually as muscle strength builds up again, the lines will eventually reform. But your lines won’t be any worse than before the treatment started.
We strongly recommend you go to this terrific page for Sydney Botox costs products.
In fact any lines should be be less pronounced than if you had never had BoTox - even if you never repeat the therapy. This, of course is primarily so because your facial muscles and skin have had a rest during the therapy.
