Thousands of people around the world already use wind power in their homes, and that number continues to rise as increasing numbers of people discover its benefits. Solar power can be utilized everywhere. It is noiseless, odorless and plentiful wherever there is sun. Most people put the panels, also known as photovoltaic panels, on their roof. The other great advantages of building them yourself are that you can move them when you need to, add to the system as you like and take them on the road if you happen to own a caravan or RV.To gain an efficient use of a turbine, you should do some in depth research and a site survey into how sustainable your environment is to support a wind turbine. For efficient placement of a wind turbine, you need to look into the average annual wind speed and direction. There are many references available to explain what speed the wind must be for different sized turbines.This rushing process is, of course, wind. Wind power has long been of interest to scientists and energy companies. It is relatively cheap and can easily be tied into the current utility grids that feed power to nations. They pay you for this energy, which means your electric bill will be much lower. You can cut your electric bill in half or more if you have a lot of wind. Small wind turbines come in different types and sizes.Many companies claim that their system will pay for itself in 5 to 15 years but that is using theoretically high wind speeds all year round that more than likely do not exist. One system states that you must have the following criteria in order to work:At least 10 MPH average wind speed (best results at 12 MPH or more)Your property is greater than .5 acre and is unobstructedThe local zoning allows a structure that is at least 42′ tallYour local utility has an existing interconnection agreementMost residential wind turbines have been placed in homes that are off the grid and also use solar power, but the good news is that much more research than ever before is being done on making smaller units that sit lower to the ground and are less expensive.
